We wake up early. The J & A Fishpen Resort has a very unique entrance. Air roots from some plants are tied to the side to built a curtain and giving shade while coming to the reception and open air restaurant. Martin wants to have a flight with the only zipline on the island of Camiguin.
We order breakfast. Today it’s for Martin the large pancake complimented with hot coffee. I decide to have again the Filipino breakfast with rice, egg, and tocino (fried marinated pork) and coffee.
The food prices are moderate but the serves are large. The meals consists mostly of fish and seafood, but they serve some dishes of chicken and pork. Guest can angle the fish from marked fish cages. Than the fish will be weight out and cooked. Prices go by the 100 gms.
If there is high tide guests can dip their feet in the overfloating floating restaurant hut. The floating huts have an additional charge of PHP 100.
There are ample rooms to stay in J & A Fishpen Resort and they are construction a few more. There are even some rooms in the mangrooves and the occupants can have a nice sleep just a few centimeters over the lagoon waters. There are different dormitory style rooms with and without aircon available for groups. If you have some questions just ask friendly Jenny at the counter, she will be most helpful like all the rest of the staff at J & A Fishpen Resort.
We had some good chats with the manager in charge of the zipline, Analos Jaquilmac and her assistant. They will accompany Martin on his maiden flight and will try to capture this event on film and photographs.
The service multicab will bring them up to the first launch station. That station is located at the slopes in the mountains at the end of the lagoon. The zipline has three cables and the first launch station is 150 meters above sea level. The distance from the first launch pad to the first landing station is 840 meters and the flyers will cross the whole lenght of the lagoon.
My friend Martin has been launched on the middle cable and is in midair.
I’m waiting at the first landing pad. He is still all smiles. After I have climbed that steel stairs and crossed that hanging bridge to second launch pad, I decide next time we come here with a group of tourists, I will try it myself. Hehe, still self-confident, we will see.
At the landing station flyers will climb up on steel stairs and a short hanging bridge to second launch pad. Also this zipline consists of three cables with a lenght of 340 meters and will bring you back right into the heart of the resort.
At the second launch pad the two ladies are ready to fly back to the resort. It is another sort of excitement, this time the flight is not the hight, this times its getting lower and lower to the water until reaching the landing point. Martin will follow right after when I have my camera in order and changed the battery.
This was enjoyable for everyone and is highly recommended to have a try on the only zipline in Camiguin at the J & A Fishpen Resort.
Compared to the zipline in Dahilayan in Bukidnon, I like this one here in Camiguin for a few reasons better. Flying over the lagoon is on of them. Reaching the final point beside the restaurant is a great plus, because no one has to climb back uphills like in Dahilayan.
To give the traveller some more impressions of the zipline, just after our experience a large group of tourists arrived. In the end 16 of them were ready to try it. A mixed group. Everybody has to sign a waiver before launching and flying on the zipline for PHP 400.
We will watch them.
Here coming two flyers from the second launch pad, flying low over the fish cages to final reach the last landing station.
If you see this smile on the face of this young lady, everyone must be convinced this was enjoyable.
See you tomorrow for our island hopping trip to the island of Mantigue from here to enjoy a white beach while in Camiguin.
