Another flood hits Cagayan de Oro City

Just one week later another heavy flooding has hit Cagayan de Oro City again. This time the area of the National Highway Claro M. Recto Avenue crossing Osmena Street with the Coca Cola Bottlers Plant and Limketkai has been badly hit.

Other areas in Cagayan de Oro City has been hit by heavy rainfall. So much as I know is the traffic on the National Highway between Iponan and Opol interrupted. Another hard hit area is Gingoog City where many families have been evacuated but I have only photos for the highway and Osmena/Limketkai area in Cagayan de Oro City.

A jeepney from the Cogon market along the Osmena Street in Cagayan de Oro City passes the flood waters at the crossing of Claro M. Recto Avenue and Osmena St. in the direction of Gaisano Mall.

The creek passing through the Limketkai area has been overflowing and has set the whole Limketkai area under deep flood waters. The small pictures (left) show the approch from the Limketkai area going to Osmena Street with the old cockpit at the left and the photo on the right shows the approch from Osmenas Street to Limketkai.

Ón Osmena Street plowing cars through deep flood waters and people gathering and still can smile and have a laugh in all this misery.

There is the normally little creek passing under a small bridge of Osmena Street. Besides the creek have settled some poor people and built their shanties. Now there is no more footpath left and they have to use some floating materials for transportation.

The military used some of their trucks to bring stranded commuters through the flood waters from one side to the other.

Stores and manufactories along the National Highway and Osmena Street had to close down like CocaCola Bottlers, Palana Grocery, Petron gasoline station for example.

In no time they had build some floating transport and had some fun and used it to bring people from flooded houses to a higher place.

A military truck is pushing a stranded delivery truck through the flood while some biker and a sikad driver are pushing through the waters.

It is not everyday that one can use an inner tube to float down on the main highway in Cagayan de Oro City.

Only trucks and people can pass through waist deep flood waters.

This is another shot of the crossing of Claro M. Recto Avenue and Osmena Street in Cagayan de Oro City.

This was the view of Osmena Street in the direction of Cogon Market with the CocaCola Bottler’s building on the left.

The kids had an exciting day and were still optimistic and show the victory sign.

By the end of the day City Hall will have to think about clogged canals and filled up waterways which gave way for construction for the next time, because there will be for sure a next time.
