Houses at the shoreline of CDO battered by big waves
Houses and people near the shore in Cugman and Gusa has been hit by big waves. The coldfront over northern Mindanao and the Visayas is still producing thick rain clouds for the next few days.
In the background are the cloudcovered mountains of Malasag.
Houses are destroyed, some people have only their lives and the clothes on their bodies left by giant waves, debris littered everywhere.
A little boy is playing in front of a destroyed small house, maybe it was his home.
This is what was left of another family’s house.
The coastal road in Villa Ernesto, Gusa
This place we used to walk our dogs early in the morning when we have been living in Capistrano Subdivision and let them go for a swim and enjoyed the fresh morning breeze under an old tree – all gone.
I still remember the people from this place when we just passed by and they gave us a friendly smile and the kids and teenagers were showing their skills in surfing on selfmade boards.
The flashfloods from the mountains brought even big trees down to the sea where they were met by a fury sea. Today people try to salvage what is still useable to them. That tree will maybe end up as firewood.
In the background the cranes of port of Cagayan de Oro City.
