Dog Lovers at Night Cafe

A while ago, a young student, Bryan Fabe, of Cagayan de Oro City, with some friends, had the idea of bringing their highbreed canines for some socialicing to the weekly night cafe in Divisoria. They meet fridays and saturdays at this portion at Pabayo St. near the Park Cafe.

Here we have this young guy talking to my wife Gerlyn, listening in are our Hovawart James and our German Shephard lady Gina. Hmm, looks like they are more busy with their cellphones.

Last october when we came from Germany we bring our Hovawart with us to stay here in the Philippines. It was not an easy task with paperworks, and regulations but in the end we did it.

The Hovawart is a rare breed even in his origin country Germany and there are only about a hundred in the United States and I want to say our James is the only one in the Philippines.

Here you see Bryan’s pure male German Shepard from an American bloodline with the name Hendric. He is a huge dog, very alert but still friendly to children and adults.  The German Shepard in the back is one of his offsprings.

Those dogs like the crowd and are used to it. There is no problem to walk them through the crowd at the night cafe. They love it to have their picture taken with the people around. They enjoy the attention they get like humans do.

Here comes James eye to eye with a young girl and he even doesn’t mind it if he gets touched by 10 little hands at the same time. Just give him space to go away when he got enough of it and all will be fine.

One of the days we brought our first Siberean Husky along.  First I was sceptical about it but he enjoyed the crowd like James.

Other dog owners bring their different breeds too.  I think, it has a learning and teaching effect to the people who just passing by to see our “best friends” in this way and maybe some change their attitudes toward dogs. The Filipino is generally afraid of dogs but has normally the streetdog of the Philippines in mind when he talks about dogs.

Last weekend we brought also our latest dog of the family. A second Siberean Husky with the name Dolphy. He is the brother of our Charly and they enjoy it to be together. When he came into our family he took a lot of stress of James. James doesn’t want to be the teacher for these young puppies. Now they have each other as company and all is fine. In a short while training for the both of them will start.

Come and have a look and fun at the high breed dogs of dog lovers of Cagayan de Oro City at fridays and saturdays night at the night cafe.
